Workshops & Events

EO-LINCS will continue to engage with the wider terrestrial-carbon and Earth-Observation communities through hackathons, workshops, and integration with ESA’s open-science platforms. Upcoming events where the EO-LINCS pipelines and xcube-multistore will be showcased and extended:

Upcoming hackathons

BIOMASS Mission Hackathon

12–16 October 2026 · Darmstadt

Event page

ESA’s 2026 BIOMASS / MAAP hackathon. EO-LINCS already provides access to GEDI and a range of biomass products through its xcube data stores, and aims to build on this event to bring new mission data (e.g. ESA BIOMASS, NISAR) into the pipelines — for example by creating a new data store or adding a new dataset.

EarthCODE Hackathon

End of November 2026 · ESRIN

Event page

A hackathon around EarthCODE, ESA’s open-science development environment. Because EO-LINCS data extraction is a single notebook driven by a YAML configuration, integration into EarthCODE is expected to be low-friction — a natural venue to demonstrate and grow community adoption of the tools.

Where EO-LINCS is heading

Beyond individual events, the EO-LINCS tools are being made available on ESA’s open-science platforms so that the workflows and their outputs can be discovered and reused:

The tools are open-access and will continue to develop beyond the project — with a focus on pipelines for the site-level data community (e.g. FLUXNET Shuttle, GeoTrees), integration with global-scale community tools such as ILAMB and ESMValTool, and preparing for upcoming missions such as ESA BIOMASS and FLEX.
